How To Keep Cauiflower White

Farmer Dean here and my cauliflower is getting ready. And look at here because I did not tie this, it’s already bolted on me. So it’s no good. Here’s one that I’m going to tie. And look at how white and nice that is. The reason why you want to tie them up is so it stays white and it stays tight like that. It’s pretty simple. I just take a piece of string, bring it around, tie it up, and I’m done. I’m going to have white cauliflower.

When I was on the farm, we used to have 20 acres of this. You can imagine how long it takes to tie through a cauliflower field. Not all of them are ready at the same time. My grandfather, who was 80 at the time that I tied, believe it or not, could out-tie me. That’s why cauliflower is so expensive, is that you got to do that if you want really white heads. OMGs, that is a lot of work.
