My 10 Feet Asparagus plant

Farmer Dean here, and most of you people are used to looking at asparagus like this. But I want to show you my 10 foot asparagus. Asparagus is a perennial, so it comes up every spring. And you can only pick it so long, then you have to let it go to seed.

So here’s what asparagus looks like when it goes to seed. You can see how big it is. I’m going to have lots of asparagus next year because this is storing all the energy in here for the roots. So next year I can pick this.

I only have about two short rows, but this year I picked over 50 pounds of asparagus off of those two short rows. So that was to eat, okay? And I gave a lot of it away, but I ate asparagus every day for three weeks.
